Planning to go and enjoying Albanian Riviera!

….You have visited almost all "visitable places" in Europe with AEGEE, almost all European countries, enjoyed all different cities architecture and nice beaches. Proudly you can say before to your friends that you`ve been everywhere.....

....But when you get a look into the map, you see.. it is still there.....Albania with its very nice and wild natural beauty, full of wonderful virgin beaches, high severe mountains, ideal for climbing, beautiful lakes, and historic sites.

and VLORA is part of Albania’s Amazing Riviera that is located in the Southwest of Albania which is between the Ionian and Adriatic Sea.

The beaches near Vlora are very popular in Albania and preferred by a large number of tourists who enjoy night parties near the beach. We can mention beaches like Plazh I Ri, Vilat, Radhime, Orikum, Dhermi, Himara, Jale etc.

The road from Vlora to Saranda is a wonderful trip to be made. This place is called Riviera and it offers a view to the sea and the mountains are cute.

In Vlora mainly the tourists come te spend their summer holidays because of the beautiful beaches it has. But there are also possibilities of fishing and hunting in appropriate seasons. In Dukat, Vlora's biggest village, tourists come for climbing and tracking. And just 10 minutes from there in Llogora parachutists practice every summer time.

Information on cities and places that will be visited

Vlora is a city in the Southwest of Albania near the sea.

The roots of the area begin with the ancient city of Orik. The Orik is believed to have its origins in the 6-Th century B.C. and is believed to be founded by Eubasit.

The city has nearly 75000 inhabitants and with its villages it reaches 175 000. The people in Vlora are well known for their patriotic feelings and for the sacrifice they have made for the country in old times.
They are also likely to be a bit stubborn especially in the villages but friendly though.

Around Vlora one can also find historical places like The Church of Marmiroi in Orikum, one of the monuments of culture remaining from the anticity. Is one of the oldest churches in the Balkans as old as Orik City. Other places like the Castle of Ali Pasha are points of historical interest.

The National Park of Llogora is a very kind place with pine forests and an amazing view at the Ionian Sea. Its highest point is 2045m and in summer it offers a very pleasant cool climate. In this zone the meat of lamb and young goats(kid) are prepared in a original unique manner called(mish helli) in Albanian and has a very special taste.

Vlora can be reached by sea, every day or twice a day one can take the ferryboat from Brinidisi, Italy  to Vlora in a kind sail for nearly 5 hours. It can be reached also by Yachts, there is a Yacht Italian Port in Orikum operating since 2006. At the end the National road from Tiranahttp://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-city/Albania/Tirana/tpod.html">Tirana">www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-city/Albania/Tirana/tpod.html">Tiranahttp://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-city/Albania/Tirana/tpod.html">Tirana lang="EN-US"> Airport takes only 2.5 hours or from Durres Port only 2 hours.
